1. What do I need to work in Switzerland?
Diploma recognition:
This process is handled by different institutions depending on your profession.
Language:
A B2 level in one of the national languages (German, French, or Italian) is required to complete the recognition process. In some professions, it is possible to start working with a B1 level.
Residence permit:
If you hold a European passport, you can live in Switzerland for up to 3 months without a permit. After that period, you must obtain a residence permit, which requires having a valid employment contract.
2. How long does the recognition process take, and what are the costs?
The duration depends on each profile and personal situation. In general, the diploma recognition process takes between 6 and 12 months.
The fixed costs are usually between 800–1,000 CHF, plus the cost of certified translations for the required documents.
